Akihiro Furukawa developed his craft first as a store manager at a knife shop in Kappabashi, Tokyo, before apprenticing under Nigara Hamono in Aomori Prefecture and eventually founding his own workshop. He dedicates himself daily to creating knives that perfectly balance sharpness, edge retention, aesthetics, and ease of use. His current knife, a kiritsuke, is crafted from Ginsan steel and features a specially designed K-tip, reflecting his attention to detail and innovation. The name Daruma, inspired by the traditional dolls from his hometown, symbolizes focus, perseverance, and a deep connection to his roots.
